Amazon.com Product Description:
Offering an unparalleled sleek design in a gloss black finish, and a quality 720p LCD panel available, Samsung's 2007 model LNT1953H 19-inch flat-panel LCD HDTV is an excellent choice for a kitchen, or small bedroom TV. Compared to the previous year's model this one offers an updated cosmetic design, hidden speakers, and 1 HDMI connection.

The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.

  • Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
  • TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
  • The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

Connections:

  • HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) 1
  • RF antenna 1
  • Component (Y/Pb/Pr) in 1
  • S-Video input 1
  • A/V input 1
  • PC input 1
  • Headphone jack 1

Samsung LNT1953H 19-Inch LCD HDTV
This TV was a gift and it was well received. It looks great, great audio and video.

Samsung LNT1953H 19-Inch LCD HDTV
We recently purchased this television to use in our kitchen. This was an awesome deal. It was advertised as "open box" used but was in pristine like new condition. Plugged it in, attached the cable and it works perfectly. The picture is perfect and even came with its own wall mount. This television retails for almost double in our area stores. Not a noticeable blemish on it. It also was shipped and received quickly. My wife and I are perfectly happy with this purchase from Amazon.com.

Poor AUDIO and Other Annoying Sounds...
Unlike other reviews I found the picture quality to be above average; not outstanding or decent but above average. My main problem with this good looking TV is the sound quality. The Samsung makers put all their focus and efforts into the sleek look and design along with picture quality but overlooked the second most important feature of any television - the AUDIO! I put both the TV remote and Cable remote on full blast and it still wasn't loud enough and I'm not hearing impaired or hard-of-hearing. I'm also not an audiophile either. The idiots at Samsung also put the tiny speaker in the top rear of the TV rather than the front where it counts the most! I don't know what they were thinking but I hope all of their TVs aren't made like this one...as this is my first Samsung and I was sold by the sleek design and picture quality on display at the store.

The other minor details I have with this poorly made product (which I'm surprised no one else mentioned) aside from taking some time to turn on is the annoying sound it makes every time you turn it on and off. Also, when you put on the MUTE you have the annoying words moving up and down the bottom left-hand side of your screen...if you're watching a movie in mute you're eyes are glued on those moving words...almost hypnotized by them...no joke!

So overall, beautiful exterior design, great picture and but poor sound.

Great Picture
Easy setup. Mounted on the wall in bedroom. The wall mount worked great , didn't need to buy a special mount bracket. The sound is great for internal speakers.

late heating up
This TV was late in heating up. We have had many TV's in the past and only the very first ones (tube)were this slow in lighting up.

Much smaller and cheaper than expected
It's a fraction of the size advertised, only 16" long, the image is hard to see, the sound is tinny and doesn't project, and to add insult, they don't even include any cables with the TV!

We love this TV!
This TV was to replace a little under-the-cabinet model in our kitchen, and the counter space size was perfect for a 19" LCD. I reviewed many newspaper ads featuring lesser priced models; then thought I'd check on-line for price comparison. It was there that I got caught up into the product reviews, and glad I did. This model was the highest rated of any 19" LCD with a little higher retail price as well. The Amazon.com price was over less than our BestBuy store including shipping. (BestBuy indicated they were sold-out on-line). The Amazon delivery was on-time, set-up was incredibly simple (even for a non-techie), and the picture/sound is fantastic. The cosmetic design is very sharp too. Definately would buy another one and highly recommend it to anyone.

nice smaller hdtv
I shopped for a small set for the kitchen at Walmart and found this to have the best picture of the bunch in the size range. The first unit I brought home had a menu glitch where it would go haywire and even block out access to the action of the physical buttons along the top of the TV. This may have been due to a software glitch, or in retrospect, it might have been due to me laying the TV down along the control panel surface to install the cabling (which awkwardly direct downward). This problem also took a few days to pop up and may have coincided with me programming my DirecTV remote to control the TV. I'm still not sure. In any event, there was no way to address this myself (resetting the unit and calling Philips did not result in a solution), so I returned it. The replacement has given me no issues.

As of now I'm not running an HD signal into the unit, but it does a nice job with the standard DirecTV signal. My impression from the HD signal in Walmart was that this TV looked exceptional, and I have a very discerning eye for artifacts, hues, etc. In fact, it looked as good as many of the better HDTV sets in larger sizes.

Overall the unit looks great. It has a nice glossy black border reminiscent of Samsung models and has a sturdy glass base that is very sharp.

I have noticed the slight "haze" or backlight leakage that a few have noted, but to me it's not a deal breaker or really all that noticable. I do notice it because I notice most defects in even the best HDTVs, but it's hardly worth knocking the set down significantly, and most won't even notice.

The sound is about what you'd expect from a small TV. It's serviceable, but not great. I presume that most people don't buy a TV to have wonderful internal speakers, so I don't think this is all that noteworthy. If you want superior, rich sound, simply buy a set of amplified speakers. Since this sits in my kitchen, I think the speakers are more than sufficient.

As to input connectivity, there is basically one of everything: HDMI, component, S-video, VGA, and composite. Yes, it could be better, but I can't imagine this is anyone's primary set running numerous HD inputs, so I found it to be sufficient for running an HD satellite signal.

I think many reviews have too high of expectations, so in this case I look at the set in terms of value and function. For a smaller set that will function as a gaming/bedroom/kitchen unit, it's ideal. Sure it has minor faults, but I don't believe there is an HD option at 19" that doesn't.

Really great TV
This model TV is really great, easy to set-up and start watching right away. Beautiful picture too, even without HD-TV hook-ups!

Phillips 19" LCD HDTV
Nice small 720p tv for bedroom in small cabinet. Wife can watch from bed (~10') distant. Easy setup. TV has solid feel/look. Remote has nice feel to it also.
